Introduction

Hi! Welcome to my blog!

I am Striving Writer, and like you, I love music. Musicianship is not in my code, but it is love for music that is. I may not know how to play instruments, but I know a good song when I hear one. I may not be a member of a band, but I am one happy listener. I often go for songs that ain't popular, so if you don't know the tune I'm humming, I offer my sincere apologies.

Why I created this blog?

Because I love music? Nah, everybody does that, even well advanced than me.

Because I want to blog about my passion? Everyone can do that.

But know me. I'm different.

Yes, I will blog about songs, with their accompanying artists and music videos (live performance or audio if absent), but not just any songs, but songs that I believe you should know or recall before you die.

To share to you songs you should know is my secondary purpose for this blog. You may come upon songs you have never heard before or music videos you have never seen since YouTube surpassed MTV in viewership.

The primary purpose is to bring (back) attention to songs (and to some extent, artists) that ruled the airwaves many years ago. I want us to recall the rhythms that Mom and Pop used to dance to in malt shops and dance halls. I want to help unearth reels or records our elders used to play in their jukeboxes, stereos, cassette tape players, Sony Walkman, Sony Discman, etc.

The purpose also comes with the need to listen to recordings, which we don't appreciate in our younger years. With the kind of music stations are playing today and records shops are selling, we can't help but to go down memory lane and compare. And there, we realize how myopic we have been. As we grow older, we come to understand how good those oldies were.

With little time left, let's salvage what has been lost to us amid that lack of quality in today's music.

Some kind of a goal for a music fan, huh?

I will try to feature songs from a wide range of genres and times, but I will also include contemporary tunes as long as they bring us to recall something from a time worth reminiscing. There are some songs that don't get airplay because DJs are preoccupied with songs that speak about sex, drugs, ex-boyfriends/girlfriends and many other nonsense. I have my sources.

Thank you for visiting my blog! May you enjoy the posts, and please share them too.
